History
Kaspersky lab was founded in the year 2000, though the group of antivirus developers under the guidance
of Eugene Kaspersky has been working in this field since 1992.
In 1989 Eugene Kaspersky removed the Cascade virus from his computer. That was the beginning of his interest
in "virology". From 1991 his hobby gradually transformed into his life's work and Eugene has
now become a champion of IT security. At the beginning of the 1990s the Russian antivirus market was divided among
Aidstest (90%) and McAfee, Doctor Solomon and Norton Antivirus (with a 10% share of the market between them).
In 1994 the virus centre at Hamburg University named AntiViral Tool Kit Pro, developed by Eugene Kaspersky,
the best antivurus scanner in the world. After the release of the third generation scanner in 1996, the world's
leading antivirus developers started integrating it into their programs. This is how the era of Kaspersky antivirus
products and technologies began. In 1997 a new brand - Kaspersky Lab - appeared in the Russian market.
